As demand soars, pay at the level of analysts and associates is also up by nearly 20%. Graduates from second tier engineering colleges, commerce graduates and product managers from various tech startups now feature among prospective analyst candidates at VC firms. The firms are also looking beyond the typical pool of IITians and global consulting firms and instead tapping senior talent at growth-stage startups and internet companies to get operator expertise. Investment firms are adding talent across the board -analysts, associates, vice presidents- and those firms that are flush with new funds are also adding new partners. "When you think about how much capital there is, when founders are choosing what firm to work with, they're thinking not just about the capital on the table," Shapiro said, "but all of the resources available to them to help them thrive.CHENNAI: With private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) funding at record highs this year, investment teams are getting ramped up to manage the burgeoning deal flow. Anecdotally, platform workers say salaries are rising, according to Shapiro, as funding deals became more competitive in the tech boom times and firms placed greater importance on these roles. It's difficult to observe salary trends over the years because the survey, the only of its kind, had far fewer respondents in the past. Though, employees accrue carry over time - a process referred to as vesting - so cash comp is critical in the near term, Shapiro added.
